The calendar

When Lowcountry termites fly

Dates move with the weather. A swarm means a colony is nearby, not always inside.

  • Subterranean swarms

Winged adults leave on warm, damp days. Indoors they gather at windows.

    Feb to May

  • Formosan swarms, where present

Evening flights toward lights. Near the water, in the same weeks.

    May to Jul

  • Drywood swarms near the coast

Small flights from dry wood, often in the attic or a window frame.

    Aug to Oct

  • Buying season

More contracts, more reports. Book inside the contract's inspection window.

    Mar to Jun

If you see wings indoors

Four things to do before you call

  • Leave the spray on the shelf

It can scatter a colony and hide the signs we need to see.

  • Keep a few

Tape a few wings or insects to a card. They help us tell which kind they are.

  • Note where and when

Which window, what time, and whether it was the first day or the fifth.

  • Text a photo

Send the card and the spot to the office number; we'll tell you what to do next.

Seen wings? Tell us where

A text with a photo is enough to start. We reply during office hours.
